Senate President Akpabio Not Involved In My Removal – Sacked Senator Abbo

Former Senator of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Elisha Abbo, who was recently sacked by the Appeal Court, has stated that Senate President, Godswill Akpabio was not involved in his removal from office.

Gatekeepers News reports that this comes after Abbo, addressing reporters at his home in Abuja, initially attributed his fate to Senator Akpabio following his dismissal by the Appeals Court.

The Abuja Division of the Appeals Court had nullified Abbo’s election as the Senator for Adamawa North Senatorial district and substituted him with Amos Yohanna from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Abbo had claimed Akpabio played a role in the court ruling against him, and he also asserted that the Senate President had identified four additional senators for possible removal through legal proceedings.

During an interview with ARISE NEWS on Tuesday, Abbo clarified that the press release they issued earlier was premature as it relied on the information they had at the time. However, following his discussions with Akpabio, they have since uncovered a wealth of new information and is convinced that the Senate President was not involved.

Abbo said, “I had a discussion with the senate president, my brother, my colleague, distinguished senator Akpabio, and I am convinced that he is not involved.

“This is because we met yesterday, and let me go by his word ‘Senator Abbo, I swear on my mothers grave that I am not involved in this.’”

“For a number three citizen to come up to tell me that he has sworn on his mother’s grave, a woman that he loves so much, a woman who brought him up after he lost his father at the age of six, I don’t see a reason why he would lie.”

Abbo also said he apologised to Akpabio after their discussion and expressed his backing for the Senate President in his efforts to fulfil the needs of his constituents and offered prayers for wisdom in his endeavours.

He also emphasised that there was no plan to impeach senate president Akpabio, but “there was a plan to make him do that which is right.”

Abbo also described the court ruling as a “judicial fraud,” noting that the judge made a ruling on a non-existent ground.
