General public has been through into confusion as Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has vehemently denied reports of assassination attempts on his life.
Gatekeepers News reports that the state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, in a statement made available to journalists in Lokoja on Sunday, alleged that the Governor escaped an attempted assassination.
The statement had read, “The Kogi State Government wishes to inform the general public that there was an assassination attempt on the Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON, a few kilometres away from Abuja, on his way to an official engagement from Lokoka. The attack occurred at about 4pm on Sunday, October 22, 2023.
“The attackers who were dressed in military uniforms waylaid the Governor’s convoy and started shooting sporadically at his vehicle and other vehicles in the convoy.”
The Governor has, however, debunked this claims, urging the general public to debunk it.
Bello stated that the incident was a trivial disagreement between his personal security team and military personnel assigned to protect the road, emphasizing that there was no attempt whatsoever on his life.
