Adamu Fika, an elder statesman and former Head of Civil Service of the Federation, is dead.
Gatekeepers News reports that Fika breathed his last on Tuesday at the age of 90.
Confirming his demise, the Secretary Fika Emirate Council Potiskum, Yobe State, Ali Gimba Fika in a statement said Adamu Fika died while returning to Nigeria from London where he went for medical treatment.
Ali said a funeral prayer will be held on Wednesday in honor of the elder statesman at Sultan Bello Mosque, Kaduna.
Adamu Fika, was born in 1933 in Fika, Yobe State.
“Fika is the first and only Nigeria’s Head of Service to resign because he was not comfortable being at the helm of affairs when by his training, he perceived the civil service was being destroyed”, the statement reads.
The deceased held several prominent positions in his lifetime, including: Head of Civil Service of the Federation in 1986, permanent secretary at various federal ministries, that include Internal Affairs, Commerce and Communications
He was also the Pro-chancellor and chairman of the Governing Council of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria and the chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF).
