Federal Executive Council (FEC) has given its approval for the submission of a supplementary budget exceeding N2 trillion to the National Assembly.

Gatekeepers News reports that this development occurred on Monday during the weekly FEC meeting, which was presided over by President Bola Tinubu.

In the previous FEC meeting, a proposed budget of N26 trillion for the year 2024 was discussed, with plans to submit it to the National Assembly before December 31.

Minister of Planning and Budget, Atiku Bagudu reported that the council had already approved the 2024-2025 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Papers (FSP) at the last FEC meeting in Abuja.

Upon the National Assembly’s approval of this supplementary budget, the total budget for the country is set to reach N28 trillion.
