Three traditional rulers in Ori Ire LGA, Oyo state, Southwest Nigeria were killed in an auto crash on Friday.
Gatekeepers News reports that the traditional rulers were identified as Olodogbo of Odogbo, Onibowula of Bowula and Alayetoro of Ayetoro.
According to reports, the monarchs were said to have been going to a social event in a neighbouring town when the accident happened.
The accident involved a Benz car and a Scania truck.
Although two of the affected traditional rulers were said to have died on the spot, the third died at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital.
The three survivors from the accident are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
The state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Joshua Adekanye confirmed the incident, saying the accident was a head-on collision between private and commercial vehicles along the Ogbomoso-Oyo expressway.
Adekanye states the survivors are undergoing treatment at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital while the corpses of the victims have been deposited at the morgue.
He added that nine persons suffered various degrees of burn injuries when a truck caught fire along the Ogbomoso-Oyo expressway in another accident on Friday.
The FRSC commander noted that no life was lost during the accident.
