NAOWA Commissions Borehole To Cater For Water Needs of 60 Families in Maimalari Cantonment

President of Nigerian  Army  Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) Mrs Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja on Monday commissioned a 25,000-litre Industrial Borehole to provide potable drinking water for 60 families within the Maimalari Cantonment.

Gatekeepers News reports that Mrs Lagbaja also laid the foundation stone of the Skills Acquisition And Training Centre for families of Officers and Soldiers.

The projects which were conceptualized by the leadership of NAOWA 7 Division Nigeria Army with Mrs Amina Peter Malla as Chairperson, are part of activities marking the annual Chief of Army Staff Conference held in Maiduguri, the Borno State Capital.

At a brief ceremony within the Maimalari Cantonment, Mrs Lagbaja who was visibly elated sang and danced with other officers and soldiers’ wives present at the occasion. “Water is Life,”  she stated.

“To Unity and Service for the betterment of humanity,” she said as she commissioned the Industrial Borehole.

Earlier,  the Chief of Staff of the 7 Division Engineering Brigade, Col. R.B Ajao revealed that the skills acquisition and training centre will impact positively the immediate environment of families of Officers and Soldiers.

“This event is the collective resolve of the leadership of  NAOWA to continue to seek ways to empower families of Officers and Soldiers with requisite skills to make a decent living for themselves and in turn impact positively on their immediate community and environs,” Col Ajao said.

Mrs Eunice Oladoyin, one of the Maimalari Cantonment residents commended NAOWA for its intervention stating that the project will bring about a positive turnaround amongst beneficiaries.

“The water project is indeed a right step in the right direction.  We will now channel our money to other important things rather than buying water. The skills acquisition and training centre will also assist many families, especially widows whose husbands had died in the line of duty,”  Mrs Eunice Said.
