Recruitment of 30000 Policemen Nationwide Begins On Monday – PSC

Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced that the recruitment of Nigerians into the Constable Cadre of the Nigeria Police Force will commence on Monday, January 8th, 2024.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Chairman of the Commission. Dr. Solomon Arase, the Chairman of the Commission, emphasized the significance of this recruitment exercise, stating that it marks a transformative chapter for the Commission.

The recruitment initiative spans across the entire federation, involving both physical and credentials screening of successful applicants after six weeks period for receiving of applications in line with the requirements of the Federal Character Commission.

He highlighted that the commencement of the exercise follows a landmark Supreme Court judgment in July 2023, reaffirming the primacy and exclusivity of the Commission in recruiting for the Nigeria Police Force.

Addressing the PSC staff at a pre-deployment briefing, Arase urged them to uphold professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the principles of fairness and justice. He emphasized that this recruitment exercise is not merely a routine process but a crucial defense of the sanctity of the Commission’s mandate.

With over 400,000 applicants expected to pass through various stations, Arase acknowledged the immense pressure on the staff and reminded them of their role as guardians of a process with inherent significance.

“With over 400,000 applicants passing through your stations, each presenting argument to join the Nigeria Police Force, the pressure will be immense.

“Remember, you are the guardians of a process that not only holds inherent significance but also paves the way for the forthcoming 30,000-man recruitment approved by the current administration “.

Dr. Arase announced that to enhance the efficiency and transparency of the recruitment exercise, the Commission is establishing a Situation Room at the PSC Corporate Headquarters Jabi Abuja.

This dedicated space will serve as a Complaint Response Centre, a help desk and an information repository, providing essential technical and operational support to personnel in the field.

Arase warned against any staff engaging in questionable activities, especially soliciting or collecting money from applicants or their families. Such actions, he emphasized, are contrary to the principles of integrity and fairness, and individuals involved will face severe disciplinary measures, including possible termination of employment.

The recruitment exercise is a critical initiative, and the PSC aims to ensure a robust, accountable, and smooth process, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct. The Commission will communicate dedicated telephone lines to the public to access the Situation Room throughout the exercise.

The Chairman of the Police Recruitment Board, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani and Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Commission, Dr. Ifeoma Adaora Anyanwutaku presented goodwill messages at the pre-deployment briefing while the Director of the Department of Police Recruitment Mr. Ferdinand Ekpe administered a code of conduct on all the Staff that will be involved in the exercise.
