Former Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué has declared his intention to make a comeback to professional football, this time as a coach.
Gatekeepers News reports that Piqué made this known on his X account on Tuesday.
The 2010 World-Cup winner who retired from playing in January 2023, shared that he misses the sport and aims to contribute as a coach.
“After a lot of thought this new year, I’ve decided that I want to return to the sport I miss so much. This time, not as a player, but stepping into coaching. I will share more details at the end of the week,” Piqué told his followers.
During his illustrious playing career, Piqué made 616 appearances for Barcelona, winning La Liga nine times, the Copa del Rey seven times, the FIFA Club World Cup three times, and the UEFA Champions League two times.
With Manchester United, he also claimed the Premier League and the League Cup, along with numerous Spanish, English, European Super Cups and he also won the UEFA Champions League Once.
Piqué was part of the Spain national team that won the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship, also winning the U19 European Championship earlier in his career.
