Niger State Internal Revenue Service (NSIRS) has apprehended its officials, including a director, in Bosso and Paikoro Local Government Areas of the State, for allegedly producing and selling their personal emblems and stickers for vehicles to the public.
Gatekeepers News reports that the development follows intensified efforts by NSIRS to crack down and arrest individuals involved in the illegal production and sale of counterfeit vehicle stickers and emblems across the state.
Mohammed Etsu Madami, the chairman of the NSIRS, explained on Friday that the activities of the suspected revenue officials violated Section 32 (3), (4), and (6) of the Niger State Tax Administration and Consolidation Law, 2022.
He noted that Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, has expressed his administration’s zero-tolerance for corruption and warned that anyone found involved in illegal revenue collection or illegal production and distribution of government documents will be made to face the law.
