Man Pulled Out Alive From Rubble Of Ibadan Explosion

A yet-to-be-identified man has been pulled out alive from the rubble of the explosion that rocked Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, Southwest Nigeria on Tuesday night.

Gatekeepers News reports that the man could be seen stretchered to an ambulance in a video clip shared by AriseTV on Wednesday.

Onlookers were heard sympathising with him as he was conveyed to a nearby hospital by first responders.

The explosion occurred at Adeyi Avenue in the Bodija area of Ibadan.

Vibrations from the explosion were felt kilometres away from ground zero, with window panes and ceilings of some houses across the city getting shattered as a result.

Meanwhile, the Governor of the State, Seyi Makinde, said the explosion was caused by illegal miners who stored explosive devices in one of the buildings in the Bodija area.

Makinde said, “This unfortunate incident resulted in death and injury to residents in the vicinity and also affected properties,” he had said.

“We have already deployed first responders and all relevant agencies within Oyo State to carry out comprehensive search and rescue operations.”

So far, two people have died and 77 injured as a result of the blast.

Destroyed vehicles, houses and body parts were also spotted at the scene of the explosion.
