Gatekeepers News reports that the federal government of Nigeria is providing paid internships to Nigerians involved in the government’s technology programme.
Minister of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani said internships will last for 12 months and aim to ensure that participants in the 3 million technical talent, 3MTT, program are placed in roles where they can apply the skills they have learned.
The training is structured into three phases. The initial phase is set to accommodate 30,000 individuals, followed by the second phase with 300,000 participants, and the third phase will encompass the remaining 3 million.
- 3MTT is abbreviation of 3 Million Technical Talent. The 3MTT programme is a critical part of the Renewed Hope agenda, which aims at building Nigeria’s technical talent backbone to power the digital economy and position Nigeria as a net talent exporter.
- The programme, executed in collaboration with NITDA, involves multiple stakeholders including fellows, training providers, partners and placement organisations.
- The 3MTT program is an initiative open for all Nigerians above 18 years of age and interested in acquiring a lifelong skill
- The program selects individuals with interest in specific skills and funds their training under various training providers participating in the programme.
- The 3MTT program covers a wide range of ICT skills such as Digital Marketing, Software Development, UI/UX Design, Data Analysis and visualization, Quality Assurance, Product Management, Data Science, Animation, Al/Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Game Development, Cloud Computing.
