A netizen, identified as Chude Nnamdi has lamented the bad state of the canopy walk bridge at the Lekki Conservation Centre.
Gatekeepers News reports that Nnamdi, in a video, via his social media, warned visitors to beware of the damaged parts of the bridge.
The video, which has since gone viral, was shared on his X handle on Monday, with the caption, “Beware of these damaged parts of the Cable bridge in Lekki Conservation Centre.”
The Lekki Conservation Centre is a nature reserve in Lagos, one of the most visited tourist attractions in Nigeria, which features a 401-metre-long canopy walkway, the longest in Africa.
It includes a picnic haven, sports courts and other facilities to entertain visitors when not on the walks.
Sharing his ordeal, the man said, “I have been here many times and the previous reels will be a testimony to that.”
“This is 49ft above the ground, not even the ground, a swamp, look at what I saw, look at this. I mean if anyone gets to fall from here, God forbid what’s going to happen?
“This has been there for quite a long time, look at the distance from the swamp. This is a place known to house crocodiles and all sorts.”
He also lamented that the walkway is also dilapidated.
In reaction to the video, the Senior Special, Assistant on New Media to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Jubril Gawat wrote, “IN SHA Allah … we will be there.”
