Law Students Set To Honour Legal Icon Wole Olanipekun At Mega Event

The Faculty of Law at the University of Abuja is gearing up for a mega event to celebrate Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, CFR, a distinguished legal luminary and former President of the Nigerian Bar Association and mark the annual opening of the legal year.

Gatekeepers News reports that organised by the Law Student Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN) University of Abuja Chapter, the event is set to hold on February 7, 2024 and will draw prominent legal figures, judges, academics, and students.

Recognized as a “role model and mentor” by many young lawyers, Chief Olanipekun will deliver a keynote address on the theme “21st Century Lawyers: Exploiting Law as a Binding Force in this Golden Age.”

The focal point of the occasion will be the special honour bestowed upon Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, CFR.

LAWSAN President, Lawal Farouq Ayobami, highlighted that the event aims to celebrate Chief Olanipekun’s achievements and contributions to the legal profession and society. It offers law students an opportunity to engage with and learn from the seasoned lawyer, known for handling landmark cases in various courts.

The event’s agenda includes a symposium and an award ceremony where Chief Olanipekun will receive a plaque of honour and a certificate of recognition. The Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, and the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Abdulrasheed Yusuf, will also be honoured.

Ayobami expressed gratitude to the faculty and sponsors, including the Nigerian Bar Association, Council of Legal Education, Pan African Lawyers Union, and Wole Olanipekun and Co, a leading law firm in Nigeria.

He said the event will also showcase the talents and skills of law students in various aspects of law, such as moot court, debate, quiz, and essay competitions.

He invited law students, alumni, and stakeholders to attend and witness the historic occasion at the Faculty of Law Theater, University of Abuja Main Campus.
