PSC Announces Promotions and Appointments – Olohundare Jimoh Now CP

The Police Service Commission has appointed Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, former Force Public Relations Officer and currently DCP General Investigation Unit, FCID Annex, Gombe; to the substantive rank of Commissioner of Police

Gatekeepers News reports that in a press release by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, Police Service Commission, the commission also approved the promotion of 1897 senior Police Officers to their next substantive ranks.

The senior police officers, include 14 CPs to AIGs, 21 DCPs to CPs, 20 ACPs to DCPs, 109 CSPs to ACPs, 184 SPs to CSPs, and 1549 ASPs to DSPs.

AIG Dasuki Galadanci as the Deputy Inspector General of Police to represent the North West Geopolitical zone. He will replace DIG Ibrahim Sani Ka’oje who is expected to retire 2nd of February this year.

Some of the appointments and promotions include:

New AIGs: Yetunde O. Longe, Haruna Gabriel Garba, Tajudeen Akinwale Abass, Rex Dundun, Durosinmi Olatoye, Afolabi Babatola Adeniyi, Abiodun Oladimeji Asabi, Julius Alawari Okoro, George Chijioke Chuku, Paul Alifa Omata, Yusuf Adesina Akeem, Bzigu Yakabu kwazhi Dali, Idris Nagoyo, Ogundare Dare Emmanuel.

The Commission also promoted 21 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the substantive rank of Commissioners: Ogunlowo, Opara, Musa, Jimoh, Akpanudom, Dung, Ayilara, Uka, and others.

New ACPs:Aniedy Udoh, Badmos, Ahmadu, Eruogu, Igometi, Chinna Joe-Iruobe, and others.

Dr. Solomon Arase charged the promoted officers to dedicate themselves to combating banditry, kidnapping, and violent crimes. He emphasized the need for predictive policing to address current criminal disorders.

This development comes as the nation faces increased criminal assaults, with the PSC expressing discomfort with the trend. The Chairman urged officers to settle into their new ranks and actively contribute to national security.

CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, born on 10th August 1971 in Ilorin, Kwara State, is a Nigerian police officer currently whose career within the Nigerian Police Force began in 2000 as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), with roles in Katsina State and Cross River State until 2006. Progressing through the ranks, he served as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Darfur, Sudan, and various roles in Anambra State and FCT Police Command (2006-2008). His subsequent roles included Superintendent of Police (SP) as the FCT Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) and Divisional Police Officer (2008-2013), Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) with duties in Cross River State and FCT Police Command (2014-2016), and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)/Ag. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ag. DCP) as the Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters, Abuja (2017-2019).

Newly promoted to the position of Commissioner of Police (CP), CP Jimoh has served in various capacities, including roles in Airport Police Command, Oyo State Police Command, and General Investigation at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Gombe from May 2023.

His professional qualifications and training encompass a diverse range of courses, including Combat Operations Course, Citizenship and Leadership Training Course, African Union Mission in Sudan (AMIS Darfur) training, and international courses on crime prevention and maritime rescue.

CP Jimoh has received notable commendations and awards throughout his career, including the Presidential Awards for Public Relations Personality of the Year in 2017. He is an active member of professional organizations, including being a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC), Nigeria, and the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria. Additionally, he holds a practising license as a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) by IMC, Nigeria.
