Ondo Assembly Confirms Olayide Adelami As Deputy Governor

Ondo House of Assembly has confirmed a former Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, Olayide Adelami as the Deputy Governor of the state.

Gatekeepers News reports that on Tuesday, the Ondo state government disclosed that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the state, had nominated Adelami for the position of deputy governor.

The office had been vacant after Aiyedatiwa was sworn in to replace late former governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

Adelami is from Owo LGA, where Akeredolu hailed from.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan had said Adelami’s nomination would be announced by the house of assembly after screening and ratification.

In 2018, Adelami retired as the Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly.

He was confirmed during plenary presided by the Speaker of the House, Olamide Oladiji on Thursday.

The legislators had earlier screened the deputy governor-nominee at the assembly complex.
