An Airbnb guest, Shawn Mackey has sued an Airbnb and its host, Pamela Fohler for sending pictures of him with another woman to his wife.
Gatekeepers News reports that Mackey had written a less-than-glowing review of his stay at a Tennessee rental, “A Little Bit More Country” in Memphis during the fall of 2022
The “superhost”, Fohler lashed out and attempted to extort him by emailing his wife a photo of him with another woman.
Mackey, who found himself in a bitter dispute with his host over additional charges, accused Fohler and Airbnb of invading his privacy, inflicting on him emotional distress and causing “damage” to his marriage.
He, alongside three friends, booked the property to enjoy a weekend of football festivities.
Although he had initially informed Fohler about the possibility of having a few extra friends over for dinner, the situation took a left turn when the host demanded an extra $960. She claimed Mackey had violated two house rules by inviting more guests than agreed upon.
Refusing to buckle under the unexpected fee, Mackey’s defiance led to an unforeseen and personal counterattack.
The host allegedly escalated the situation by sending Mackey’s wife security camera footage showcasing Mackey with another woman.
This act of retaliation, rooted in a dispute over a mere property review and extra fees, has now spiraled into a legal battle with a lawsuit filed in a Mississippi District Court.
