It was all smiles on the faces of 1,720 beneficiaries of different empowerment materials donated to them by Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan on Monday.

Gatekeepers News reports that the aim of the donation according to Sen. Lawan who represents Borno Central Senatorial District is to reach out with palliatives and make his constituents self-reliant amidst  the lingering economic hardship in the state and other parts of the country

This was made known at the Government House, Maiduguri during the distribution of palliatives to the beneficiaries drawn from 8 local government areas of the Senatorial District

Items distributed include Tricycles otherwise known as Keke Napep,  Water Pump machines, Sewing machines, Electric generators, Grinding machines, Block making machines and Refrigerators/Deep Freezers.

The sum of over N34 Million was also handed over to the beneficiaries to aid their transportation to their various local government areas.

According to Senator Lawan, the palliative handed to his constituents is also part of the fulfilment of electioneering campaigns and promised to sustain the gesture.

“During our electioneering campaign, we promised them that we would not let them down. We have now started by empowering 1720 people in different fields, and we want to assure them that this is just the beginning. We will do our best to cushion the effects of the hardships experienced due to the economic meltdown in the country.

“We will establish a constituency office in the next couple of weeks, where our constituents will have the opportunity to interact with us. We will also continue listening to our people to solve their problems. By the end of my tenure, I will ensure that  I  completely fulfil my campaign promises,” Senator Lawan said.

Presenting the empowerment materials to the beneficiaries, the State Governor, Prof Babagana Zulum commended Senator Lawan for reaching out to his constituents within a very short time in office as Senator representing Borno Central Senatorial District. Zulum also urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items given to them.

“Let me commend Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan for donating an empowerment package to his constituents. This would go a long way in addressing the needs of the people, particularly in challenging times like this,”  Governor Zulum said.
