Southern Senators Elect Abiru As Forum Chairman
After an eventful plenary session that resulted in the suspension of the Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum, Senator Abdul Ningi, the Southern Senators revived their forum.

Gatekeepers News reports that they elected Senator Adetokunbo Abiru of Lagos East as the new Chairman, replacing the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, and the Vice Chairman, Senator Victor Umeh of Anambra. This inauguration occurred nine months after the commencement of the 10th Senate.

During the meeting on Wednesday, 51 Senators from 17 southern states elected six executives under Senator Abiru’s leadership.

Senator Bamidele clarified that the Southern Senators Forum is not a new entity, having existed since the 9th Senate. However, he was unable to provide the required leadership due to his role as the Senate Majority Leader.

Senator Abiru assured that the forum would serve as a platform for constructive discussions and analysis of national issues.

He also expressed his willingness to collaborate with the Northern Senators Forum to advance the country’s interests.
