Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Wednesday, staged a protest at the secretariat of the Labour Party (LP).
Gatekeepers News reports that the protest was against the planned national convention of the party, which is scheduled to take place at the end of March.
The NLC leadership demanded the removal of the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, accusing him of planning to conduct a “secret” convention without the involvement of major stakeholders.
The proposed convention has caused a conflict between Abure and the NLC as well as the House of Representatives caucus. The protesting workers accused Abure of planning to damage the Labour Party.
However, the Nigeria Police prevented the workers from entering the party secretariat.
