Minister of Power in Nigeria, Adebayo Adelabu, announced that the country’s electricity generation has increased to 4,800 megawatts in the past few days, up from 4,200MW.
Gatekeepers News reports that he made this disclosure during the launch of a 132/33kV mobile substation (with the plate number 63MVA) in Ajah, Lagos State, installed under Phase 1 of the Presidential Power Initiative by the FGN Power Company in collaboration with Siemens Energy.
The Minister also warned saboteurs of Nigeria’s power sector to stay away if lasting development is to be seen in the industry.
“Let me mention that we have started seeing improvements in our generation output. The output has increased from 4,200MW to 4,800MW in the past few days.
“What we experienced in February and some parts of March was undesirable when we had shallow generations,” he said.
Nigeria has been experiencing an epileptic power supply since January, leading to calls for a reversal of the 240 per cent tariff hike imposed on April 3 by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission for band A customers who get 20 hours of power supply.
