JUST IN: Emirates Announces Return To Nigeria

Recruitment: Apply For Emirates Airline Recruitment 2022

Emirates Airlines has confirmed its return to operations in Nigeria starting October 1, 2024.

Gatekeepers News reports that the airline disclosed this via its official X handle Thursday.

“We’re back, Nigeria! We’ll be resuming services to Lagos from 1 October 2024, and we can’t wait to offer unrivalled connectivity to Dubai and beyond to over 140 cities,” the tweet read.

The airline will be operating a daily service between Lagos State and Dubai, and will offer customers more choice and connectivity from Nigeria’s largest city to, and through, Dubai.

Earlier, The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has said that Emirates Airlines has announced its intention to resume flights to Nigeria.

Keyamo made this known via his X handle.

This comes following a meeting with the United Arab Emirates, Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi, at the UAE Embassy in Abuja.

According to Keyamo, the airline has confirmed a specific date for its return to Nigeria, which will be formally announced by Emirates Airlines in the coming days.

He wrote: “Yesterday, I paid a working visit to the Ambassador of the UAE to Nigeria, His Excellency, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsia at the UAE Embassy in Abuja.

“He handed me a correspondence from the Emirates Airline indicating a definite date of their resumption of flights to Nigeria. That date will be formally announced by Emirates Airlines in a matter of days.”

The resumption of flights follows the resolution of issues related to the repatriation of Emirates’ earnings in US dollars, which led to the suspension of its operations in Nigeria in October 2022.
