Phil Foden has been named the English Premier League’s (EPL) Player of the Season for the 2023/24 campaign.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Manchester City forward was selected from an eight-man shortlist that included Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak, Martin Odegaard, Cole Palmer, Declan Rice, Virgil van Dijk, and Ollie Watkins.

This marks the fifth consecutive season that a Manchester City player has won the award, following in the footsteps of Erling Haaland, Kevin de Bruyne (twice), and Ruben Dias.

Foden has had an impressive season, scoring 25 goals (17 in the EPL) and providing 11 assists. His contributions have been crucial to Manchester City’s potential sixth EPL title.

The Manchester City academy graduate expressed his pride and gratitude upon receiving the award, stating, “To win this award is an achievement that I am extremely proud of… I’ve been very happy with the way I have played this season and really pleased that I have been able to contribute with the goals and assists throughout the season.”

Foden also thanked the City staff, coaches, and teammates for their support, as well as everyone who voted for him.

He has already won the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup titles this season and has the opportunity to add more silverware to his cabinet in the upcoming FA Cup final against Manchester United on May 25.
