The ongoing trial of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, and his co-defendant, Henry Omoile, continued on Friday at the Lagos High Court.
Gatekeepers News reports that Victor Onyejiuwa, Managing Director of The Source Computers Limited, testified against Emefiele for the second time.
Onyejiuwa told the court that his company provided ICT services to the CBN between 2014 and 2019, and received at least five contracts during that period.
However, he alleged that John Ikechukwu Ayoh, a former CBN director, demanded and received bribes from him in exchange for the contracts.
Under cross-examination by Emefiele’s counsel, Olalekan Ojo, Onyejiuwa revealed that he had no direct interaction with Emefiele during his dealings with the CBN.
“We only communicated through WhatsApp calls. I was interfacing with Ayoh. I have not met with the first defendant (Emefiele) before,” he said.
Onyejiuwa also admitted that he did not report the alleged bribery to the police or EFCC, citing pressure from his partners on financial obligations.
“I was under pressure from my partners on financial obligations and that I had no choice but to accede to Ayoh’s request,” he said.
The case was adjourned until July 9 and 10 for continuation of the trial.
