Liverpool Football Club has announced Arne Slot as the new head coach, replacing outgoing Jurgen Klopp.
Gatekeepers News reports that the club confirmed the appointment in a statement on their website, saying: “Liverpool Football Club can announce Arne Slot has agreed a deal to become the club’s new head coach, formally taking up the position on June 1, 2024, subject to a work permit.”
Slot, 45, will join the Reds from Feyenoord, where he spent three years and won the Eredivisie title and Manager of the Year awards in two of those years. He will sign a three-year contract at Anfield and become Liverpool’s first-ever Dutch manager.
Klopp managed his last game at Anfield on Sunday, and the club gave him a fitting farewell with guards of honor, songs, and heartfelt messages.
Slot’s appointment follows a £9.4 million compensation deal with Feyenoord, according to BBC Sports. He will bring his reputation for success and innovative coaching to Liverpool, having also won the Dutch Cup with Feyenoord this season.
