Gatekeepers News reports that the power plant, according to the commission will also provide power to neighbouring states when fully operational.
This was disclosed by the Managing Director of NEDC, Mohammed Alkali during a visit by the Acting Managing Director, of Chad Basin Development Authority (CHBDA) Engr. Mohammed Zanna at the Commission’s Headquarters in Maiduguri, the State capital.
According to Alkali, there’s a need for the Federal Government and the Borno State to collaborate and ensure the rehabilitation of Marte power plant.
“We have better plans that will involve the Federal government, the State Government and us (NEDC). I was told that if Marte power plant is rehabilitated, it will cater for the power needs of neighbouring states and help boost agricultural activities.”
The MD NEDC revealed that “very soon” a clear picture of the planned rehabilitation of Marte plant will emerge.
He therefore commended the leadership of CHBDA for visiting the NEDC and stated that both organisations are aimed at development.
The Acting Managing Director of CHBDA applauded the NEDC for the different support received, he also sought for more assistance from the commission.
