Renowned academic and former vice-chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof Ayo Banjo is dead.
Gatekeepers News reports that Banjo died in the early hours of Friday, approximately 22 days after he celebrated his 90th birthday, and a programme was held in his honour on May 3 this year to mark his 90th birthday.
A source at the University of Ibadan revealed that Banjo has been sick for a long time.
The deceased was a professor of English Language and also pro-chancellor of the AJAYI Crowther University Oyo.
He is a fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Letters and a member of the Sigma Foundation.
He has over fifty publications and has written widely used textbooks in primary and secondary education.
