About the Challenge

Do you have a startup less than 3 years old or pioneering with a business idea to develop? If so, the TotalEnergies Startupper Challenge is for you!

The Startupper of the year Challenge by TotalEnergies is back in 32 African countries for a special edition celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Company!

The aim of this edition of the program is to support and encourage young African entrepreneurs to innovate and bring their projects to reality in their country of application.

All business creation project holders and owners of startups under 3 years old with a positive impact on their communities and/or the planet can participate!

Requirement

To apply for the TotalEnergies Startupper Challenge, interested applicants must;

    • Be young African entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 35.
    • Be a pioneer with a project or a startup that can make a difference in your country
    • Own a startup under 3 years old with registration in the application country no earlier than April 30, 2020.
  • Be a resident of the country where you apply.
  • All business creation’s project holders and young innovative startups with a positive impact on their communities and the planet can participate!

Target Countries

  • North Africa (Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania, Tunisia)
  • West Africa (Ivory Coast, Ghana, Guinea, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo)
  • Central Africa (Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo)
  • East Africa (Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Reunion Island-Mayotte Island, Madagascar, Uganda, Tanzania)
  • Austral Africa (South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe)

  • Monetary award of N8,000,000.00 (Eight Million Naira),
  • Personalized support and a communication campaign to enhance their project’s visibility
  • Promotion of project during a celebratory event

TotalEnergies Nigeria will select three winners:

  • Innov’Up winner, for the best entrepreneur.
  • Cycle’Up winner, for the best project relating to the circular economy.
  • Power’Up winner, for the best project relating to sustainable, affordable energy.

Four additional projects in the Power’Up category will be selected by an international jury.

All project entries will be assessed against four criteria:

    • Relevance to sustainable development challenges
    • Innovation
  • Feasibility and development potential
  • Respect for gender equality and inclusion of women in the project
