Gatekeepers News reports that the national leadership of the party has appointed a 17-member caretaker committee, with Elizabeth Ativie as the head, to oversee the chapter’s operations.
The crisis began on May 25, 2024, when the leaders in Arue-Uromi suspended Julius Abure, the national leader, for alleged misconduct.
The national body, however, denied knowledge of the suspension and affirmed Abure’s position as the national chairman.
In response to the state executive’s actions, the national leadership inaugurated a caretaker committee to take charge until a new executive is elected.
The committee’s appointment was met with support from party members, who expressed optimism about the party’s future under the new leadership.
Elizabeth Ativie, the newly appointed state chairman, has pledged to lead the party to greater heights and work towards reconciling all factions within the party.
