Canada’s Immigration Minister, Marc Miller, has announced a new permanent residency-on-arrival program for caregivers, set to launch by fall 2024 or early 2025.
Gatekeepers News reports that this initiative replaces the expiring Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot, allowing caregivers to continue entering Canada while efforts are made to make these programs permanent.
The new program grants home care professionals permanent residency upon arrival, eliminating the need for work experience in Canada.
To be eligible, applicants must achieve a minimum CLB level 4, hold a Canadian high school diploma equivalent, have recent relevant work experience, and receive a full-time home care job offer.
Canada aims to welcome over 15,000 new permanent residents through caregiver programs by 2026, addressing the rising demand for caregivers as the population ages.
