Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kaduna state have arrested 110 suspects and recovered 520.385 kg of illicit substances in May.
Gatekeepers News reports that the state commander, Samaila Danmalam made the revelation while speaking with NAN.
Danmalam said the suspects comprise 105 males and five females.
He said the illicit drugs include cocaine, Indian hemp, tramadol, and methamphetamine.
Danamalam added that ten drug dens in the state were dismantled.
He said NDLEA successfully secured the conviction of 12 suspects and arraigned 22 others within the month.
In addition, the commander stated that, in its efforts to combat the drug scourge in the state through drug demand reduction activities, the command organised many sensitisation programmes across the state.
He said, “This was with the aim of enlightening the citizenry on the ills associated with drug use and illicit trafficking while simultaneously counselling and rehabilitation of drug dependent persons.”
Danmalam further urged the public not to get involved in any illicit drug activities and trafficking.
He also urged them to provide useful and timely information to assist the state command in carrying out its mandate.
