The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun has suspended special promotions within the police.
Gatekeepers News reports that the IGP alledged that it is jeopardising the job of officers.
Egbetokun, who is displeased at the rate at which some officers go to lobby for special promotions, stated that from now, any officer recommended for special promotions from powers above, will be disciplined.
The IGP also said that when any officer needs to be promoted specially, the process will be handled by the police management.
Egbetokun also banned unwarranted acts of soliciting for post. He warned that anyone found guilty of this act will be dealt with in accordance with the law governing the Force.
The development comes subsequently to he decoration of fifteen senior police officers, who were recently promoted from their initial ranks to a new rank.
The newly decorated officers include; one Deputy Inspector-General of Police; 11 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and 15 Commissioners of Police.
