Bauchi Govt Renames State University

The management of Bauchi State University, Gadau has changed the school name to Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU).

Gatekeepers News reports that the development came after the governing council of the institution approved of the change.

Before this, the state governor, Bala Mohammed signed the bill for renaming the university passed by the State House of Assembly.

The council members reached a conclusion during its meeting which was led by the chairman, Prof Ango Abdullahi.

The university’s pro-chancellor, Prof Ango Abdullahi noted that the council unanimously adopted the new name in honour of the late Nigerian nationalist and politician, Mallam Sa’adu Zungur.

Abdullahi emphasized the importance of honouring the memory of people who have played important roles in shaping the history and identity of the countey.

The vice chancellor of the university, Prof Fatimah Tahir, while speaking, said that the renaming of Bauchi State University to Sa’adu Zungur University is a symbolic gesture that shows the values of integrity, leadership and excellence that the university upholds.

Fatimah added that the change is a testament to the enduring legacy of Zungur and his enduring impact on the educational landscape of the state.
