The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), has advised event planners to prioritize parking safety during the Eid celebrations and beyond.
Gatekeepers News reports that the managing director of LASPA, Adebisi Adelabu gave the advice through a statement released on Friday.
Adelabu noted that proactive parking planning is important to mitigate the potential hazards that have to do with large attendance during this festive period.
She said, “With the Eid festivities fast approaching, we anticipate a surge in events across Lagos, which will translate to increased demand for parking spaces.”
“It is imperative that event-goers, planners prioritize and pre-plan their parking arrangements to prevent haphazard parking, which can impede traffic flow and jeopardize public safety.”
The GM further urged all motorists in Lagos to prioritize the safety and convenience of others during the festive period.
She added, “Let us come together to create a joyful and safe festive atmosphere, devoid of frustration and danger.”
Going on, Adelabu emphasized the importance of strict adherence to parking regulations to ensure smooth traffic flow throughout the festive period.
She said, “We must avoid blocking driveways or parking in unauthorized areas.”
“Non-compliance not only disrupts the joyous spirit of the season but also poses risks to the safety and convenience of fellow road users.”
The GM further advised event planners not to convert sections of major roads into makeshift parking lots for events without proper authorization and availability of parking marshals who oversee parking arrangements.
She also advised event attendants not to park in unauthorized areas, adding that event centers requiring parking assistance to liaise with LASPA.
Adelabu said, “We stand ready to assist event organizers by connecting them with nearby facilities that have available parking spaces and providing trained parking marshals.”
Lastly, Adelabu reiterated LASPA’s unwavering commitment to addressing all parking-related concerns and ensuring that residents and visitors enjoy optimal parking experiences across the state.
