Keyamo Reveals Plans For Direct Flights To South America

Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has announced plans to commence direct flight operations to South America.

Gatekeepers News reports that in an interview with Statehouse media on Saturday, Keyamo revealed that the country is exploring new routes, including the American and South American routes.

“We are looking at the American route, we are looking at the South American route,” Keyamo said.

“They are not even flying the South American route at all, but something is in the offering for us to start that route now, so as to help the Nigerian flying public to bring down their prices.”

Keyamo emphasised that this move is part of efforts to enforce Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreements (BASA) and promote Nigerian flag carriers.

“You tell the countries that this is our flag carrier, present them as your flag carriers, and so they respect them as Nigeria’s representative, not as just private businesses in Nigeria,” he explained.

The minister also mentioned that the 2024 budget includes a provision for a master plan for the ministry, aimed at modifying the electropolis in all airports, starting with the five international airports.
