Nigeria Police Force has expressed concerns over alleged corruption and irregularities in the recently released list of successful candidates for the 2022/23 police constables recruitment.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed that the published list contained several anomalies, including names of individuals who did not apply or participate in the recruitment exercise.

Adejobi stated, “Several names of persons purported to be names of successful candidates are those who did not even apply and therefore did not take part in the recruitment exercise.”

He also noted that the list included candidates who failed the Computer Based Test or physical screening and those disqualified due to medical unfitness.

The police spokesman alleged that financial dealings and corrupt practices led to the outcome, resulting in the shortlisting of unqualified and untrainable individuals.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olukayode Egbetokun, has written to the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, objecting to the list and citing the irregularities discovered.

Adejobi emphasized that the police have dissociated themselves from the published list and called for a transparent and credible review of the process to recruit qualified and competent individuals into the Nigeria Police Force, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for police reform.
