Trailer Crushes 4 To Death On Abuja-Keffi Road

No fewer than four people died on Tuesday evening when a heavy-duty truck conveying bags of fertilizer suffered a brake system failure and collided with a Honda Accord car.

Gatekeepers News reports that the four occupants of the vehicle were crushed beyond recognition and several others sustained varying degrees of injury.

Eyewitnesses said that the driver of the trailer lost control of the vehicle while descending from the Kugbo hill on the Abuja-Keffi highway following the brake system failure.

The driver was unable to stop the vehicle which was speeding as it headed towards Keffi, so he used smaller cars in front of it as wedging tools and ended up smashing vehicles it came in contact with until it crushed the Honda Accord car into a metal pillar where it eventually came to a halt.

The bodies of the four occupants were dismembered, while survivors from the other affected cars got injured.

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials and sympathisers who rushed to the scene to rescue surviving victims were astonished and couldn’t comprehend the situation when they saw dismembered body parts in the mangled car with no room to pull them out.

The deceaseds’ body parts were all over the place of the accident as sympathisers watched the agonizing scene of the unfortunate accident.

The FRSC men continuously made efforts to cut open the mangled car to pick up the remains of victims as at the time of filing this report.
