Gunmen on Saturday morning abducted a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Mikah Suleiman in Zamfara State.
Gatekeepers News reports that Rev. Mikah, who is the parish priest of St. Raymond Catholic Church Damba, Gusau, was abducted at his Father’s rectory located within the church premises.
Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, led by Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah revealed this through a statement released by the acting Chancellor, Very Revd. Fr. Nuhu Iliya.
The Diocese expressed concern about the continued abduction of priests around the country.
It noted that the incident shows the increasing security issues faced by religious communities, adding that it serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and strengthened security measures to protect the lives and well-being of not only religious leaders but all Nigerians.
Zamfara state police command is yet to issue an official statement as regard the incident at the time of filling this report.
