Traders Count Losses As Fire Razes Abuja Market

Karu market in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was engulfed in flames late Thursday, causing significant damage to goods and properties.

Gatekeepers News reports that the cause of the fire is currently unknown.

A trader, who suffered substantial losses, appealed to the government for assistance, emphasising the devastating impact on her livelihood and family.

“Everything just got burnt. I don’t know where to start. This is where we feed from, pay rent and where I pay my children’s school fees from. It’s all gone. Over N20 million gone,” she told journalists.

This incident follows a similar fire at the Wuse market in March, which was reportedly sparked by protests related to a clash between FCT task force officials and traders.
