Miyetti Allah Warns Members Against Extortions

Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has warned its newly elected states’ executives to desist from being involved in extortion and touting.

Gatekeepers News reports that MACBAN National President, Baba Othman-Ngelzarma, issued the warning through a statement released on Monday in Abuja.

Othman-Ngelzarma noted that the actions of miscreants have tarnished the good image of the Fulani people, urging the new leadership to work towards eliminating those with criminal tendencies from their midst.

Also, he urged members to be law abiding and report any act of injustice they face, assuring them they are entitled to their full rights as citizens.

The president noted that he has directed elected MACBAN executives in Taraba state to constitute a three-man legal team for each state to deal with the issues of extortion and touting.

According to the president, the large number of pastoral youths in custodial centres across the states awaiting trial due to alleged false charges is unacceptable.

He further said that the association has received a lot of complaints from members nationwide that an alleged cartel of security, judicial officials, and some renegade pastoralist leaders were feeding on the wealth of rural pastoralists.

The president said, ” Leadership is about service and with heightened insecurity occasioned by gross human rights abuse, all hands must be on deck to ensure equity, justice and fair play to all Nigerians.”

In addition, the president urged all pastoralists to uphold the concept of ‘Pullaku ‘ for peace and security to reign.

He emphasized the need to put aside all negativity to restore their dignity and pride, as virtues of Pullaku code of conduct represent peace, respect, shyness and unity.

The president added, “These are the integral for the survival of society.”

” MACBAN represents peaceful and law-abiding pastoralists and will not tolerate bad eggs in its midst.”

Going on, Othman-Ngelzarma urged leadership and followership of the association to support the government and security agencies in their various states.

He also urged members of the association to join all farmers’ associations for purpose of dialogue to mitigate recurring conflicts.
