Nigerian Writer- Professor Emeritus Funso Aiyejina Is Dead

Award-winning Nigerian writer, poet, playwright, and academic, Funso Aiyejina is dead.

Gatekeepers News reports that Aiyejina died on Monday, July 1, 2024, in his sleep in the West Indies.

The short story writer who died at the age of seventy-five (75) was a former Dean of Humanities and Education at the University of the West Indies. He however retired in 2014.

The deceased who was born in Ososo, Edo State, Nigeria was known for works such as “Letter to Lynda and other Poems” which won the Association of Nigerian Authors Prize in 1989.

Other books written by the late writer include ‘The Legend of the Rockhills and Other Stories’, I, The Supreme and Other Poems, ‘The Errors of the Rendering’, a
D ‘The Character Who Walked Out On His Author’.
