NEDC To Support Survivors Of Gwoza Suicide Bomb Attacks

North East Development Commission (NEDC), on Tuesday, assured that its already making plans with relevant stakeholders to assist survivors of last weekend’s suicide bomb attacks in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

Gatekeepers News reports that NEDC condemned the suicide bomb attacks carried out by suspected Boko Haram Terrorists and stated that attention must be given to the survivors particularly those who sustained various degrees of injuries and are currently responding to treatment in the hospital.

Managing Director of NEDC,  Mohammed Alkali made the disclosure when he alongside the management team of the Commission visited the State Specialist Hospital to see some of the survivors.

Alkali who described the situation of the survivors as pathetic stated the Commission and relevant stakeholders are planning to come up with a comprehensive way of responding to the plight of the Survivors.

“We are talking to the state government and other stakeholders to see how we can find a comprehensive way of responding by providing the needed succour to assist the people.

“We are also talking to the National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA) and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA),” Alkali said.

The NEDC boss however said the comprehensive support plan is still under wraps and will soon be made known.

“We won’t disclose our plans now but were are on top of the situation, ” the NEDC MD said.
