Nigerians Can Be Unfair in Criticising Footballers – Oshoala

Asisat Oshoala, the Super Falcons striker, has spoken out about the criticism footballers face in Nigeria, stating that it can sometimes be unfair.

Gatekeepers News reports that Oshoala, in an interview with TheCable, acknowledged that scrutiny comes with playing for the national team, but emphasized that some comments can be unfounded.

“Sometimes I feel like they are not being fair, but at the end of the day, it is a type of responsibility that I have found myself in with the level that I am right now,” Oshoala said.

Despite the pressure and expectations, Oshoala remains focused on enjoying the game, saying, “I do not have any pressure. I had this conversation with my psychologist the other day, and they said it is all about fun for me right now. Whatever I do regarding soccer, I want to ensure I enjoy it.”

Oshoala is set to represent Nigeria at the Paris Olympics in July, where the Super Falcons will face a tough Group C alongside Spain, Japan, and Brazil.

Despite the challenge, Oshoala is confident in her team’s resilience and determination to qualify for the next round.
