Court Sentences Teacher To Prison For Flogging Pupil To Death

Children, S*xual and Gender-Based Violence Court in Awka, Anambra State has sentenced a teacher named Mrs Faith Nwoye to 21 years imprisonment.

Gatekeepers News reports that the teacher who is a staff of Landmark International School Mgbakwu, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State flogged a nine-year-old student, named Henry to death.

Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh also expressed condolences to the deceased’s family, Education family, and State Government for the heavy loss.

Chuma-Udeh who was represented at the burial by Director of Schools in the Ministry of Education, Mrs Ifeoma Onyeneke expressed despair that one of the State’s hopefuls was gone in a manner that could have been avoided.

She lamented that the little boy would still be alive if he was enrolled in an approved school with qualified teachers.

The commissioner further reminded residents of the state that Governor Soludo had declared operation of illegal schools in the State, unlawful.
