An assassination attempt occurred at former President of United States, Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.
Gatekeepers News reports that Trump was rushed off stage after loud noises sounded like gunshots erupted.
The former president had blood on his face and ear and was escorted into a vehicle by Secret Service agents and taken to a hospital immediately.
US Secret Service revealed that the rally shooting left one rally attendee and the suspected assailant dead, while two other audiences sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Secret Service and Trump’s spokesperson has confirmed that the former president is safe and fine.
The spokesman noted that Trump was taken to a local medical facility for a checkup, adding that a suspect has been taken into custody.
The former President, who took to social media to comment on the incident and to assure well-wishers of his safety, said a bullet only pierced his right ear.
He said, “ I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.”
Trump further thanked The United States Secret Service, and other Law Enforcement for their rapid response to the shooting.
He added, “Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead.”
