President Bola Tinubu has expressed admiration for Nduka Obaigbena, the chairman of ThisDay and Arise media group, praising his “enterprising spirit.”
Gatekeepers News reports that Tinubu conveyed his warm wishes in a birthday message to Obaigbena, who turned 65 on Sunday.
Tinubu also extended his prayers for Obaigbena’s continued success, acknowledging his philanthropic endeavours, particularly in the field of education, which reflect his commitment to human development.
Obaigbena launched ThisWeek magazine and subsequently founded ThisDay newspaper in 1995.
In 2013, he expanded his media presence by establishing Arise News Channel, which has operational bases in Lagos, London, New York City, and Johannesburg, South Africa.
He has also held the esteemed position of President of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN).
Obaigbena has received notable recognitions, including the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) national honour and the Fellowship of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (FNGE), both in acknowledgement of his significant contributions to journalism.
Also, Obaigbena has been honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the 2023 Diamond Awards for Media Excellence (DAME).
