Senate has made changes to its leadership by removing Senator Ali Ndume as the Chief Whip and appointing Senator Tahir Monguno as his replacement.

Gatekeepers News reports that this decision came after a directive from the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Umar Ganduje, and the National Secretary, Senator Bashir Ajibola.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio put the request to voice votes at the Senate, and it was unanimously supported by all the APC senators.

The development follows Ndume criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, as well as the economic hardship, food scarcity, and security crisis. He was not only removed from his position as Chief Whip but also from the committee he co-chaired as Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations.

Meanwhile, Tahir Munguno has been picked to replace Ndume as Senate Chief Whip.
