An inferno, on Wednesday, resulted in the death of Kano State Commissioner of Higher Education, Yusuf Kofar-Mata’s daughter, sister, and his elder brother’s wife.
Gatekeepers News reports that the commissioner revealed the tragic incident through a post on Facebook.
Kofar-Mata said his daughter, Maimuna, elder sister, Hajiya Kadija, and his brother’s wife, Juwairiyya lost their lives in the fire.
The deceaseds have been buried by Islamic rites.
Kofar-Mata posted, “Unto Allah we came and to him we shall return. I mourn the loss of my daughter Maimuna (Islam), my senior [elder] sister, Hajiya Khadija, and my brother’s wife, Juwairiyya, who all perished in the fire accident this morning.”
“Their funeral prayers will be conducted at 11 am at Kofar-Mata quarters, Kano City today (Wednesday).”
According to reports, the commissioner’s residence in Kofar-Mata metropolis in Kano was razed by fire in the early hours of Wednesday while the family members were asleep.
According to a source, several valuables were destroyed during the unfortunate incident.
The spokesman of state fire service, Abdullahi Saminu, said the level of damage and cause of the inferno could not be ascertained immediately.
The cause of the tragic incident is yet to be disclosed.
