Cultural Credibility Development Initiative (CCDI) has joined the Igbo community worldwide in mourning the loss of Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, a prominent leader and former President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
Gatekeepers News reports that Iwuanyanwu passed away on July 25, 2024, at the age of 82.
CCDI, in a condolence message signed by Ide Goddy Uwazurike, President, and Steve Nwabuko, Secretary, on Thursday, noted that Iwuanyanwu was a highly respected figure in Nigeria, known for his efforts to unite the Igbo people and his contributions to the country’s development.
The group stresses that the deceased was a successful businessman, politician, and traditional leader, and his passing has left a void in the Igbo community.
The CCDI described him as “Nnanyi-Ukwu, Hadel and Enic Construction company Limited” and “Nnanyi-Ukwu Champion Newspapers Limited”, highlighting his business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit. They also acknowledged his leadership role in Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, saying he “bestrode Nigeria like a colossus” and commanded the respect of all five South East Governors.
According to the CCDI, Iwuanyanwu’s legacy extends beyond his business and political achievements. He was a devoted family man, a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his passing has been felt deeply by his loved ones.
The CCDI remembered his desire to draft a new constitution for Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, a project that remains ongoing. They expressed hope that his Ohanaeze Ndigbo Executive team would complete and present the “Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu Ohanaeze constitution for Ndigbo” in his honor.
The condolence message concluded by saying, “We love you Chief Dr Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu but God loves you most. Thank you so much for the honest leadership you rendered to Ndigbo as President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. The entire Igbo race will mourn you. Ndi Imo state will mourn you.
