Senate Summons NNPC, Dangote And Others Over Petroleum Industry Sabotage

Nigerian Senate has announced plans to summon key stakeholders in the petroleum industry, including the Central Bank of Nigeria, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Dangote Group, and the Minister of State for Petroleum, for questioning over alleged economic sabotage.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Senate ad-hoc committee on “Alleged Economic Sabotage in the Nigerian Petroleum Industry” will investigate billions of dollars spent on refinery maintenance in the last decade.

A public hearing is scheduled for September 10, and the committee will visit Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Warri to engage with industry actors.

Committee members vowed to expose the rot in the sector, warning that there will be no “sacred cows” and that arrest warrants will be issued to uncooperative agency heads.

The move comes amid a clash between Dangote refinery and regulatory authorities over allegations of substandard products.
