Oando PLC has vehemently denied allegations circulating on social and digital media that it owns a blending plant in Malta, and further refuted claims of importing adulterated fuel into Nigeria through a Maltese company, Raz Hansir Oil Terminal Limited.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement, company secretary Ayotola Jagun stated, “We wish to refute such claims and attest that neither Oando PLC nor its Executives have ever held shares, investments, or interests in the fictitious Maltese company.”
Jagun explained that a comprehensive investigation, including a search of the Malta Business Registry, found no evidence of the company’s existence.
“We therefore believe that the false claims are of malicious intent to mislead the public and our stakeholders.”
Oando emphasised its commitment to transparency, noting that as a publicly listed company, any corporate actions are publicly declared in accordance with applicable laws and rules.
The company urged the press to verify information through its Corporate Communications department to prevent misinformation.
The controversy surrounding Malta and oil imports follows allegations by Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, that some Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited officials own blending plants in Malta. However, NNPC’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, has denied owning a blending plant outside Nigeria.
